In 2000 Renny Ramakers and Gijs Bakker, the founders of Droog Design, were invited to develop and set up the Master Course at Design Academy Eindhoven. Gijs Bakker was the Head until 2012. Every year Droog would present a selection of the Graduation Show in Amsterdam.
In 2018, as we mark the 25th anniversary of Droog, we start this tradition again. Together with the current DAE heads Jan Boelen (Master Department Social Design), Joost Grootens (Master Department Information Design) and Louise Schouwenberg (Master Department Contextual Design), Droog has made a selection of eleven DAE graduation projects of the Master programme. This presentation will be on display from the 6th of September until the 30th of September.
This exhibition gives an insight into what fascinates the youngest generation of designers. They are faced with complex themes ranging from artificial intelligence to gender discrimination. They see problems, challenges, and possibilities for change on every level of society. The designers approach this through research and find ways to disseminate their work, not necessarily as a design object but rather as an experience, a video, a campaign, or a site-specific project for example.
Works by selected DAE MA graduates: Siri Bahlenberg, Ellie Birkhead, Minji Choi, Erika Emerén, Annika Felder, Anna Aagaard Jensen, Robert Johnson, Camilo Oliviera, Elisa Otañez, Thomas Stratmann, Hala Tawil
This year’s graduates of Design Academy Eindhoven showcase their projects at De Campina (Kanaaldijk-Zuid, Eindhoven), the brand new location of the Graduation Show (G18). The Graduation Show is part of the Dutch Design Week 2018 (20-28 October).
