It was a busy weekend in Veenhuizen. Many inhabitants of Veenhuizen were curious to see how design students worked with the detainees and the employees of the detention houses to make typical Veenhuizen products and services. The exhibition also attracted tourists and press. A local television station, TV Drente, made an item about the DAE – Veenhuizen collaboration and interviewed one of our students, Joost Dingemans. Joost invented garden tools that can be made with the machinery that is already present in the workshops of the detention houses.
Wim de Bruijn, project manager of Ontwikkelingsbureau Veenhuizen: "We can look back on a very succesful weekend with a lot of positive reaction to the students' work. It was a very good starting point for the future collaboration with Design Academy Eindhoven."
