The publication of Timo de Rijk's article in NRC Handelsblad (February, 2013) has generated a fertile debate on design's potential and the requirements of a suitable education. Louise Schouwenberg, Head of the Contextual Design Master's programme at Design Academy Eindhoven, wrote this article for Domus Magazine about the performance of design. As Timo de Rijk believes design must prove itself in the market reality, which demands that designers solve problems (or the illusion of problems) with well-functioning products, Louise Schouwenberg thinks there no longer exists just one "natural" habitat for design products.
