Design Academy Eindhoven alumni Maarten Baas, Joost van Bleiswijk and Piet Hein Eek have been invited by housing corporation Trudo to co-develop an architectural project at Strijp-S in Eindhoven. On this former Philips production area, the old industrial and renovated factory building needed a contrast. Where the area consists of large concrete buildings, large scale renovations and new buildings, Trudo asked the designers to create a more personal and ‘Kashba’ atmosphere.
The designers were asked to create a new structural plan and new architecture on different levels for a 55m x55m area. Each designer will be responsible for his own part within the project and the three independent segments will eventually result into one large project, in which each designer’s individual style will strongly be visible.
Joost van Bleiswijk will base his architectural project on his famous No Screw No Glue concept, where separate elements slot in each other without the need of screws and glue. Both the structural plan, as well as the actual new building will be designed by Joost.
The designers are now in the final phase of the structural definition, and soon will incorporate their individual architectural designs. As this project is in full progress, there is a unique opportunity to follow this spectacular project till the reveal in 2014.
