Voicing Borders

What: A razor wire fence built by an invader is used by its victims to broadcast their message to the world.

Why: After they invaded Georgia in 2008, Russian forces put up a razor wire fence to mark the occupied territory. Inside this land, villages were burned down, leaving no trace of the people who once lived there. Born behind the occupation line, Irakli Sabekia wants to reveal their existence to the world.

How: The very weapon of occupation becomes a tool for voicing an objection to it. A specially designed radio transmitter connects to the fence and uses it as an antenna. It sends a message in Morse code, stating the names of the disappeared villages and their geographic coordinates.
