Consumption of Heritage

What: A clothing collection made of Hansan-Mosi fabric and Hanji paper that reappropriates Korean heritage.

Why: Fast fashion provides immediate satisfaction at a low cost, but leads to massive ethical and environmental issues and puts an end to traditional textile crafts. Sun Lee presents a more balanced and circular collection inspired by Korean heritage, introducing traditional production methods and materials in a contemporary context.

How: These handmade garments are entirely composed of biodegradable Hansan-Mosi fabric and Hanji paper – buttons included – representing the philosophy of ephemerality. Old techniques are combined with new techniques, and modular pieces can be worn in several ways. The result is a multiple layered collection that passes on tradition to a new generation.
