After a long day of hard work the construction worker comes home, his clothes covered with paint, sand and cement, his hands rough and dirty – the archetype of a ‘real man’. With ‘Under Construction’ Ak Jansen presents his own contemporary interpretation of traditional masculinity, allowing room to reveal a more feminine side. This collection offers a fashionable alternative for standard workwear. Iron fences and steel structures are the inspiration for the materials used in jackets and trousers. Open lurex weaving, nylon monofilament and delicate silk create a glossy metallic look. A photo series for fashion editorials proudly presents the new man: tough and strong, yet soft and sensitive.
