WEATHERNESS

‘WEATHERNESS’ is a range of textiles designed to make people mindful of weather circumstances, instead of trying to battle them. Our human ambition to control the weather stems from a need for protection. But do we need to go as far as we do? Surya David White’s fabrics lead the way in creating greater acceptance of wind, rain, heat and sunlight. The playful dynamics of the wind become visible in the scale-like structure of her fence covering, which can be used as a temporary second skin in urban spaces. The sunlight is harnessed and multiplied in her reflective jacquard weave which can be used as a fabric for clothing. And her shading textiles communicate a rise in temperature by becoming more transparent when exposed to the sun's light and heat.
