Fascinated by the traditional French craft of stuffed quilting – ‘boutis’ – Anaick Lejart developed a way to industrially produce 3D carpets. With high-frequency welding machines normally used to create outdoor structures or inflatable elements, strong connecting lines are forged into textiles. “Carpet patterns often reflect architectural and graphic trends. I focused on strict geometric patterns and added a third dimension to enhance tactility,” says Anaick. With ‘Surface’ she invites people to interact with what lies on the floor.
