Peace and Quiet

He was looking for some peace and quiet. Time for contemplation in a world of turmoil. And Hidde Kleinhesselink found it, by putting aside some time every day to colour tiles. For his Peace and Quiet project he developed his own formula for ink that allowed him to draw on ceramics with a pen. In the process he hoped to pass on his own tangible moment of peace and quiet. Kleinhesselink: “The production process is therapeutic. As a designer you are always managing a million things at once. These tiles are visualisations of my peace and quiet, spiritually and physically.” What’s more, every tile is handmade and unique. They are packaged by the hour, according to the hour that they were coloured.
