If you often catch yourself staring out of the window longingly while at work, Yuko Miyazaki’s desk can offer you an alternative mental escape. She has incorporated a mini-landscape with different natural features into a personal workplace to revive flagging concentration and inspiration. Nestled into this Landscape desk are: a hilly cushion — soft as soil; a lake-like basin for fresh flowers; and a metal mirror to catch the light. The idea comes from her own experience of the soothing effect of nature. “While working, I often go for a walk to relax and get refreshed. It gives me the energy to keep going,” she says.
