Using a modern music system is often difficult for elderly people or people with dementia. It’s a pity because music, especially music they remember from when they were young, does them a world of good. Kyra Meilink designed TOON, a music player especially for this target group. She put the modern technology in a recognisable box: the design is inspired by radios from the 1950s. The sound system has a SD memory card on which carers and family can put familiar songs and radio plays from the old days. Operation of this music player is easy with only two buttons, and a special plug for the hard of hearing. TOON brings music back into the life of old people.
