Fluffy Obsession

Thalia de Jong likes to watch people with their pets, as she finds that careful observation not only reveals a great deal of information about animals, but also about their owners. This was the inspiration for her installation, Fluffy Obsession, a video portrait of breeders of Persian show cats. In the process of displaying their fluffy friends, the breeders also exhibit their own best sides. Through their extraordinary devotion to this seemingly useless hobby, these show-pet owners have developed into skilled designers, and their prize-winning Persians are living proof.
