How is the landscape shaped by water? This is what Tiddo Bakker wants to show children. He designed the Grote Meander-meubel (Great Meander furniture): a miniaturised version of reality that lets children get to know nature while playing. The bottom is layered with different colours of “ground” – sand, plastic and coffee – that each react differently to water flows. By digging in the landscape the children can see a continual change in the bottom, and understand what is changing in response to their actions. The Meander furniture is a service Bakker wants to provide for schools and day care centres.
