TOOLS THAT HELP US COMMUNICATE IN WARTIME
‘Every person will actively experience war once in their lifetime’.
This sentence from a magazine made Philippe Villevoye think.
What would his war look like? How would he find food? Protect
himself? Warn his loved ones? He made up a short wartime
scenario in which he would have to cover one hundred kilometres
on foot, and discovered that communication would be the most
important step towards survival. Therefore, in addition to a tent
with a camouflage system, his ‘rescue backpack’ mostly contains
tools for communication. A kite to communicate with other
backpackers by means of coded signals, a ‘stencilled twitter
system’, a friends directory with pre-arranged rendezvous points.
Walking into War will make people consider what is important
in times of war and will increase their awareness of the freedoms
they currently enjoy.
