A PROJECT TO HIGHLIGHT DEPRESSION
West-Friesian culture is highly reserved; the people in this region
are not quick to talk about their qualms. Because of this, young
people who are experiencing problems are especially vulnerable
to becoming isolated. They will force themselves to keep their
problems to themselves for fear of being seen as strange and
becoming excluded from society. Many of them will suffer from
depression, fear and anxiety complaints. Kees Peerdeman, born
and raised in West-Friesland himself, has wanted to create more
awareness around the fear of the unknown in the region and
beyond it as well. He has collected his own experiences and put
them into words and images in Isolation; a graphic story.
