THE LIFE OF PACKAGING MATERIALS EXTENDED
In these times, when products will often travel from one part of
the world to another, packaging design is becoming an ever
more expansive discipline. Packaging is meant to protect the
product from any damages that could occur during transport from
the manufacturer to the consumer. Once the final destination
is reached, the cover will be binned; almost a third of our waste
material is packaging. Gil Molho presents a new approach which
deals with packaging material in a more sophisticated way. He has
gone in search of ways to extend the life of packaging materials
and has found one in integration. In Light Pack and Polypot,
the packaging has become part of the product, which reinforces
its justification.
